Robert Faveri opened the original Faveri's Unpainted Furniture store in Winnipeg in 1975.
His plan was simple:
Buy furniture that is well made and can be sold at reasonable prices.
Buy unfinished to allow your customers to see the value of the workmanship and choose the color they want.
Keep everything in stock and have an every-day-low-price. You don't need sales. Set out your best price all the time.
Have lots of variety and open stock.
Have a line of finishing products you can stand behind. Offer instruction and support for customers finishing their furniture.
Bob went on to open 2 stores in Toronto and one in Saskatoon before retiring.
Jill Faveri and Doug Nedohin opened Faveri's Unpainted Furniture in Calgary, on April 1, 1993. We based our store on Bob's original plan with the addition of offering professional finishing in 1998. Currently, our store is the largest unpainted furniture store in western Canada. We buy from over 15 suppliers at any given time with product coming in from all over the world.
